About Me

I presently hold the position of Assistant Professor within the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of the District of Columbia, following my transition from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville. My academic journey began with the achievement of an esteemed honor degree in Civil Engineering from Manisa Celal Bayar University, Turkey. In addition, I pursued an associate degree in Business Administration from Eskisehir Anadolu University in 2007. Seeking to broaden my horizons, I subsequently relocated to the United States to participate in the Intensive Business English program at the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN).

In 2011, I successfully completed my Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Building upon this achievement, I enrolled at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in the same year to embark on my Ph.D. journey in Structural Engineering. Under the esteemed guidance of Professor Dr. Chia-Ming Uang, I specialized in the study of steel structures, culminating in the awarding of my Ph.D. degree in 2017.

Following the completion of my doctoral studies, I dedicated myself to further research as a postdoctoral researcher at UCSD, focusing on the investigation of steel deep beam-columns under seismic loading conditions. In 2019, I embarked on an enriching professional experience as a postdoctoral researcher at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan. Subsequently, I returned to Turkey to assume the role of assistant professor at Tekirdag Namik Kemal University.

During my time in Turkey, I also seized the opportunity to earn an Executive MBA degree at Istanbul University, further augmenting my knowledge and skills in the field. This pursuit of advanced education has enhanced my expertise and equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of both the technical and managerial aspects of the civil engineering discipline.
