Appetizer  (Meze)

Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, and Turkish cuisine in particular, share the meze food group. Typically, it is served cold. It's a staple of aperitif spreads and can't-do-withouts at parties. Dishes served as an appetizer can come in a wide variety of flavors.

It goes great as a side dish for grilled meatballs, hash browns, or falafel. You can use it as a dip for potato chips, beet chips, or zucchini chips, and they'll all taste great. As an appetizer, you can serve it with olive oil and black cumin on a plate.
