Chicago

Chicago has always held a special place in my heart, especially during the summer! There's something magical about this city when the sun is shining, the lakefront is buzzing with activity, and every neighborhood feels alive. While winter here can be challenging (hello, freezing winds!), there’s never a shortage of things to do, from vibrant cultural experiences to an electric nightlife scene. I’m excited to share my personal favorites and a few hidden gems that will help you make the most of your time in the Windy City!

My Favorite Hotels to Stay in Chicago

1. The Langham Chicago
It’s like stepping into a sanctuary in the heart of the city. The river views and luxurious spa make it the perfect retreat after a day of exploring.

2. The Peninsula Chicago
If you love indulging in some pampering, the Peninsula’s rooftop pool and spa are next-level. The rooms are spacious, and the service is impeccable.

3. The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel
A perfect blend of old-school Chicago charm and modern luxury, The Gwen’s proximity to the Magnificent Mile is a huge bonus.

4. Viceroy Chicago
Situated in the historic Gold Coast neighborhood, this stylish hotel has a rooftop pool that becomes my personal oasis in the summer.

5. Waldorf Astoria Chicago
Tucked away in the Gold Coast, this luxurious spot feels like a hidden gem, with an incredible spa and some of the most elegant rooms in the city. Waldorf is always my favorite!

6. The Whitehall Hotel, BW Premier Collection

This is a charming and historic boutique hotel that perfectly blends old-world elegance with modern comforts. Located in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast, it's just steps away from Michigan Avenue and some of the city's top attractions, like the Magnificent Mile and Oak Street Beach. I love how this hotel feels intimate yet luxurious, with its classic decor and personalized service. The rooms are cozy and well-appointed, and the proximity to great restaurants and shopping is unbeatable. It’s a fantastic option for anyone looking for a sophisticated stay in the city!

My Favorite Restaurants in Chicago

Chicago is a foodie's paradise, and whether you're craving world-class dining or comfort food, there's always something amazing to try.

1. Alinea
You don't just eat here; you experience food on a whole new level. The creativity and flavors are out of this world.

2. Giordano’s
I’ll never say no to a slice of Chicago’s famous deep-dish pizza, and Giordano’s always hits the spot.

3. Girl & The Goat
Chef Stephanie Izard’s inventive small plates keep me coming back again and again. Everything on the menu is a hit.

4. The Purple Pig
Mediterranean flavors with a focus on pork – it’s casual but so delicious. I always leave happy.

5. Au Cheval
Best. Burger. Ever. Seriously, it’s that good. Expect a wait, but trust me, it’s worth it.

Top 10 Things to Do in Chicago

Chicago has so much to offer, from world-renowned museums to lakeside adventures. Here are some must-do activities while you’re in town:

1. Millennium Park & Cloud Gate ("The Bean")
The Bean is iconic, but what I really love is walking around Millennium Park, especially in the summer. It’s perfect for people-watching or catching a free concert.

2. The Art Institute of Chicago
As one of the oldest and largest museums in the U.S., this place never gets old. I could spend hours just wandering through the collections.

3. Navy Pier
Navy Pier is touristy, but there’s something about it that always draws me in. Grab a drink, watch the boats, and catch a fireworks show in the summer.

4. Skydeck Chicago at Willis Tower
The view from the Skydeck is breathtaking. For a real thrill, step out onto “The Ledge” – a glass box that makes you feel like you’re floating above the city! However, Hancock Tower is still my favorite!

5. Chicago Riverwalk
The Riverwalk is such a hidden gem. Whether you're walking, grabbing a bite to eat, or renting a kayak, the views of the city are unbeatable.

7. Magnificent Mile
Whether you’re shopping or just window-shopping, the Magnificent Mile is a must for a taste of Chicago’s high-end retail scene.

8. Choose a Twilight or Evening Cruise

As the sun sets, the skyline begins to glow with lights. The city feels even more magical at night, and an evening cruise offers a completely different perspective than a daytime tour.
