TURKISH CUISINE

It is mostly based on Ottoman cuisine, which is a fusion and refinement of Mediterranean, Balkan, Middle Eastern, Central Asian, and Eastern European cuisines. Turkish cuisine has affected those and other neighboring cuisines, including Southeast European (Balkans), Central European, and Western European cuisines.

Desserts and sweets are commonly consumed in Turkey between meals, in the afternoon, with tea or Turkish coffee. Due to a common Byzantine and Ottoman past, most Turkish desserts, like many Turkish dishes, can be found in other countries of the region.
